PHOTO: JPSA
This a shot of the mens finalist from the contest.
Me 1st. , Genki 2nd. , Higashikawa 3rd. , and Akira 4th.
That was a fun contest and a fun finals but wish we had more set waves come in during the finals.
Congrats. to the woman finalist they did a good job also and gave their best even in the inside with the shallow reef sticking up they still went for it.
Mahalo JPSA and all the contest sponsors great contest and hope to do it again next year..
Thanks to everyone that came to watch the contest see you guys at the next contest.....................
Mahalo,
Eugene

Super happy to start this years contest season off with a good start ASP and JPSA.
My goal is to win both tours and do good in the WLT this year and with a 3rd. place in this weekends ASP contest and a #1 ranked in Japan LQS and 2nd in the first JPSA can't ask for a better start. I would like to be the first to win both in the same year. I am the only one to win both but not in the same season. I will be very hungry this year and should be fun.
This is a photo of the final with Bonga in 1st. Christian Wach 2nd. and Keegan Edwards and Me in equal 3rd.
I lost to Bonga in a man on man semifinal heat but still gave it my best and had fun. By far Bonga is the best and most stylish longboard surfer modern or classic and yesterday it showed why he is 2X world longboard champion and should be more.

First off, I want to give a big congrats! to Jason "Bats" Shibata and the other surfers that got their pro license this past contest.
Congrats! to Taiki on his big win, he surfed really well and was lucky to be in the right spot to get the best set wave. Good to see one of the younger crew from Chiba win and being able to surf together often in Onjuku watching the kid grow in his surfing and win. It's was hard loosing to him I got 2nd. I tried my hardest but couldn't get a good wave in the finals.
The woman's event was good and the girls gave their best in the some what hard conditions that we had during the contest and Congrats! to all the woman's finalist I wish them all the luck on their tour this year..
I feel the JPSA did a good job also with the weather we had they still worked hard to do a good job.. The judging was consistent and much better with no one really getting super high points so it looks like this maybe a fun year.
Big Mahalo to all my sponsors and friends that came to watch the contest.

This is a photo with some of the boys having a talk after Keegan and my QF heat. It was a close heat all I need was one more good wave. The Suns put on a great contest with good vibes.
A big Mahalo to the ASP and there judges who did a very good job and some of the best judges for a contest who know what is good surfing and score as pro judges should. Great work...
Mahalo for Murasaki sports and The Suns and the other sponsors for the support and another great event just wish it was more sunny with bigger waves but still fun and good vibes the whole time Mahalo..
I finished with a 5th place but felt good to get a high ranking in an international level after what's been happening on the JPSA and there poor judging (maybe they could learn from the ASP).
The next few contest will be in Miyazaki and hope we can get some good waves and a good result..
